ACT OF PARLIAMENT

An Act of Parliament is a statute (commonly called a law) enacted as primary legislation by a national or sub-national parliament.An Act of Parliament creates a new law or changes an existing law. For example, in the UK, an act is a Bill approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and formally agreed to by the reigning monarch (known as Royal Assent).
