obiter dicta

Not binding or complementary arguments to a ratio decidendi under the doctrine of stare decisis which have a persuasive component towards a warrant or a judgement.

In other words, obiter dicta is an observation made by the judge that, although is included in the body of the court's opinion ,doesn't form a necessary part of the court's decision.
